The infant room at Christ the King EEC provides a loving, fun, safe environment for your child to grow and learn. In addition to routine daily care (diaper changes, feedings, etc) each individual child is encouraged to reach his/her developmental milestones such as rolling, verbalizing, crawling and walking. Singing, reading, playing and artwork are a part of our routine. A daily report is provided on the Himama Ap so parents are aware of their child’s day, as our partnership with the parents is very important.
Our focus in Toddler 1 room is to build vocabulary, strengthen walking skills and encourage their table manners. The children also work on colors, numbers, names, manners, sharing and do various art activities. We also introduce the Frog Street Curriculum to help children meet goals and focus on their own individual milestones. We also start learning about our faith with songs and stories
In our Toddler 2 East and Toddler 2 West classrooms, we focus on social, emotional, intellectual and physical skills with each individual child. Our lesson plans are based on Frog Street Curriculum and Second Step which encourage proper growth and development. We also continue learning about our faith with songs and stories.
We have a circle time that consists of songs, stories and the weather. Art and centers are offered each day, as well as outside learning. Children are encouraged to use their manners and clean up their toys. Toddler 2 encourages self-help skills, good manners, positive behavior and potty training.
In the Preschool 3 room, lesson plans are done on a weekly basis. Each lesson plan consists of a theme, social interaction/communication, story time, small group activities (intellectual growth), creative self-expression (art), and school family time. We use the Frog Street Curriculum as well as The Second Step program. We also use the Lexicor5 program for extra fun learning.
The children learn about God and how he made each and every one of them special. We also pray before meals. There are several prayers for the children to choose from.
Each child is taught to be respectful of him/herself and of others, their property and the property of others. Self-help skills and independence are encouraged. Conscious Discipline is used in the classroom to guide each child to a better understanding of the choices they make.
Please note that children must be out of diapers/pull-ups and completely toilet trained before they can be enrolled in the three-year-old classroom.
In the Preschool 4 room, we provide a learning environment with an emphasis on cognitive skills, social skills, and problem-solving skills.
Frog Street Curriculum is our guide in planning for our classroom. Our class has a consistent, predictable schedule that we follow each day. We also use the Lexicor5 program for extra fun learning.
The Second Step program is used to help children understand and recognize their feelings as well as how others are feeling.
Conscious Discipline is used in the classroom to guide each child to a better understanding of the choices they make.
The children also love learning about God with hands on activities as well as songs and stories. We also pray before meals.
Kindergarten readiness along with social interaction, intellectual growth and learning about our faith are the focus in this classroom. Self-help skills and independence are encouraged. Our program bases our studies and lessons on the Archdiocese Preschool Standards, as well as, the Kansas State Preschool Standards. Curriculums we use are Seed's Religious Readers, Scholastic's Big Day, Handwriting without Tears, Lexicor5, Catechesis of the Good Shepard, and supplemental enrichment activities.
Each child is taught to be respectful of him/herself and of others, their property and the property of others. Self-help skills and independence are encouraged. Conscious Discipline is used as well.
Our Combo students attend mass with 7th-grade buddies on Thursdays 2nd through the 4th quarter of the school year. We also attend Music, P.E., Library, & Spanish in CTK Elementary. During the summer we offer opportunities for exciting field trips and presenters.
The purpose of our school-age programs is to provide a secure and safe environment with a stimulating atmosphere in which children can grow socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually through age-appropriate practices. Christ the King strives to create a climate that will encourage exploration, experimentation, and creativity.
Christ the King Before and After School Care Program is a 10-month program which provides opportunities for families to have a safe and friendly place for their children to go before and after school. Children have the option of choosing several different activities. They may work in large groups, small groups or alone to enjoy recreational activities, arts and crafts, educational games and various other activities under the close supervision of the school-age program staff. Time is given each day for children to complete their homework with help from staff members.
Before School Care is offered from 7:00 am to 7:40 am. After School Care is offered from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Snack is served in the afternoon. Care is only available for children age five through eleven attending Christ the King Elementary school. Transportation from other area schools is not provided.
Care is provided to children on many days when Christ the King Elementary School is closed. Children from any school district are welcome to attend school days out. Enrollment paperwork must be completed prior to a child’s attendance at a school day out. On school days out, we are open from 7 am to 6 pm and serve breakfast, lunch, and snack.
Our program runs for 11 weeks. Families can sign children up for all 11 weeks or 7 weeks. No other part-time is offered for this program due to planning at the beginning of summer for fieldtrips. During the summer we provide opportunities for youth to enjoy recreational activities, learn new skills and make new friends. Campers take part in arts and crafts, sports, special projects, games and educational field trips under the close supervision of the summer camp program staff. Children from any school district can attend our summer camp program.
