Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
The proclamation of the Word bring uniqueness and great meaning to each individual Catholic liturgy. The readings are carefully selected by the Church for her liturgies, and must be proclaimed with great zeal and effectiveness, for the spiritual good of the faithful depends upon hearing the Word. The homilist for the day will also depend greatly on the lectors to proclaim the word in such a way that he can refer to the scriptures with confidence.
